Blessed Birthday Singapore! 50 Looks Good on You!


Today, my birth-nation Singapore turns a grand 50 and I am proud of her. I am thankful for the freedom to practice my faith. I am thankful for the education I have received. I am thankful that I was able to serve my country in the Defence Ministry. I am thankful that my parents have a home of their own. I am thankful that all my siblings have a job. I am thankful that this is where some of my family and friends met their spouses. I am thankful for the diversity of culture and races within the family and nation. I am thankful that true Singaporeans strive to remain harmonious.

I am thankful that this is where I met Christ. I am thankful that I have family and friends who continue to look out for me. 
I am living overseas but my eyes are on my birth-nation. If there was something I do not appreciate, I am not one to gripe on Facebook, I just write to the Prime Minister's Office about it but I think, "let's be constructive here and let's aways remain a blessing."
Singapore is made up of Singaporeans and those who have come from afar and truly made it home. Singaporeans are not perfect, neither are we No.1 all the time. But we do have a "can-do" mentality and we try to be creative in our solutions. For so many whom I miss especially today, God bless Singapore! God bless you, the Singaporean.

Being Quiet Amidst The Pandemic

I have been quiet.  Quietly reading about the pandemic.  Quietly observing the mixture of fear of many in this Coronavirus crisis, the confidence of others as they meet this crisis headlong, the responses of various governments and the pain of those who have lost and are losing their loved ones. I have been quietly watching from various countries.  Yes, I might belong to the high-risk group due to my ministry travels.  Still, let me assure you that I imposed a 14-day stay-at-home rule on myself.  This is my personal contribution to combat COVID-19 responsibly. It is now Day 5 of my stay-at-home rule.  I live on my own.  When families are together and bonding, I can only watch them quietly from afar.  My advantage is that I do not have anyone else around me who may catch the virus IF I am a carrier.  So, I thank God for this disposition. Now What Do I Do About The Selected President of Singapore? - Some Personal Thoughts

I guess there needed to be something I am passionate about to write a blog.  I am passionate about my country, Singapore.  And in the same breath, when once I was proud of the Singapore leaders, I hang my head in terrible shame.  And it all has to do with the Reserved Election which was no election at all! When I first heard about the Reserved Election, I thought hard and prayed about it as well.  And I was extremely upset that the leaders of Singapore will choose to force my choice.  On 15th November 2016, I wrote an email to the Prime Minister's Office registering clearly my concerns and non-support for the Reserved Election for various reasons.  See the major portion of my email addressed to the Prime Minister below: I have been following the intention to have a reserved election for the next President.  While the argument that Singapore should have a minority race President is noble, it also makes one (me) feel that as a Singaporean, I am not able to rise above racial iss
